Formula 1 Will be Downgraded to 1.6 litre?

LONDON (Reuters) – Formula One’s governing body has formally approved plans to introduce a new V6 1.6 litre turbo engine from the start of the 2014 season.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said in a statement on Wednesday that its World Motor Sport Council had passed the new regulations in a fax vote.

The Formula One commission that groups the sport’s main stakeholders had already unanimously agreed the switch from V8 to V6 units with energy recovery systems.

The original plans had been for a 1.6 litre four cylinder hybrid turbo engine to be introduced in 2013 but that met resistance from some manufacturers.
The FIA statement did not say what the rev limit on the new engine would be.
Team technical heads met at last weekend’s European Grand Prix in Valencia and suggested the new engines be allowed to rev higher than previously envisaged — from around 12,000 rpm to 15,000.
Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault and Cosworth are the sport’s current engine makers, with each supplying three teams.

The sport returned to naturally aspirated engines in 1989, with a new 3.5 litre formula. Formula One’s last turbo era ended in 1988, a season dominated by the 1.5 litre V6 Honda-powered McLaren’s of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.

Lynas Plant Safe in Malaysia?

Lynas plant safe by world standards, says review panel

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Australian rare earths miner Lynas Corp won today international approval for its RM700 million plant being built in Malaysia’s east coast after a UN review panel said it posed no radioactive risks to the thousands who live and work there.

But International Atomic Energy Agency-appointed (IAEA) panel recommended 11 improvements for Putrajaya to implement before awarding Lynas further licences, including the one the miner needs to start pre-operations.

The federal government has also pledged it will adopt all the suggestions.

The Sydney-based company had previously hoped to fire up its plant by September; it will be announcing its next step later today.

It had earlier requested a halt to trading on its shares.

Putrajaya, under pressure to show that the plant does not pose any radioactive risk, had called for experts from the IAEA to form an independent panel to review the health, environmental and safety aspects of Lynas’ rare earths plant in Pahang.

“The IAEA report concluded that it did not find any instance of ‘any non-compliance with international radiation safety standards’ in the Lynas project,” said Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Datuk Maximus Ongkili in a joint statement today.

Mustapa heads the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) while Ongkili is the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti). Both were absent from today’s news conference but their prepared statement was read aloud by MITI secretary-general Datuk Dr Rebecca Sta Maria.

But the government and the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) declined to comment on a New York Times report today claiming Lynas’ Gebeng plant is being plagued by design problems and hazardous construction issues.

When asked, Sta Maria said she had read the article and would leave it for Lynas to comment.

The nine-man expert panel found Lynas to have complied with international health and safety standards, after a month-long review.

The full 55-page report deals with radiation protection, waste management, decommissioning an environmental can be read online at the IAEA website which is also linked to the Trade Ministry and Science and Technology Ministry websites.

Among the panel’s recommendations are for the federal government and its agency, AELB, to require Lynas, before the start of operations, to submit a plan detailing its waste management in the long run.

The review panel highlighted the need for the miner to address the management of the water leach purification (WLP) solids after it shutters the Gebeng plant, together with a safety case supporting its plan, which it listed as follows:

• Future land use (determined in consultation with stakeholders)

• The dose criterion for protection of the public

• The time frame for the assessment

• Safety functions (example containment, isolation, retardation)

• The methodology for identification and selection of scenarios, saying “this must include the scenario in which the residue storage facility at the Lynas site becomes the disposal facility for the WLP solids”

• Any necessary measures for active and/or passive institutional control.

It noted that as the safety case develops, there will be a need to update the plant’s overall radiological impact assessment (RIA).

The review also recommended Lynas ready a fund to cover the cost of the long-term waste management and decommissioning and remediation of the plant.

IAEA’s nuclear fuel cycle and waste technology chief Tero Varjoranta, who headed the review team, also urged the federal government to prepare a clear action plan and set a timeframe for the measures to be carried out within the next one to two years — in a short video clip timed to coincide with the public release of its report.

Lynas has said that its plant — which will extract rare earth metals crucial for high-technology products such as smartphones, hybrid cars and wind turbines — will create a RM4 billion multiplier effect annually and will hire 350 skilled workers, 99 per cent of whom will be Malaysians.

Although reports say the plant may earn RM8 billion for Lynas, more than one per cent of the Malaysian GDP, critics have questioned the real economic benefit of the project, pointing to the 12-year tax break the Australian company will enjoy due to its pioneer status.

The federal government defended the Lynas project was a “strategic industry” for Malaysia in spite of the controversy it has attracted .

Sta Maria said the government expects Lynas to spend RM4 million a year, in addition to the RM700 million it has also ready poured into the rare earths plant.

It had previously estimated investment spinoffs of RM2.3 billion from the plant, including the RM300 million already poured into two factories in the Gebeng industrial zone that will produce hydrochloric and sulphuric acid needed to extract the rare earth metals.

'Monster' Tajima Ascending Pikes Peak in Under 10-Minutes Barrier

Piloting a specially updated Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special with a twin turbocharged 3.1-liter V6 912-horsepower beast is ready run at 8,750 rpm and 890 Nm of torque at 5,850 rpm, the hill climb master experienced a blown radiator and a sudden loss of power steering in the final leg up the famous course.

 The gruelling Pikes Peak course runs 19.9 km (12.42 miles) consisting of 156 turns that begin at an altitude of 2860 meters (9383 feet) and finishes at the 4300 meter (14,107 feet) summit of Pikes Peak. The dramatic rise in altitude deprives engines of 30 percent of their power at the summit and competitors employ special oxygen breathing apparatus to combat the changes in air pressure.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb covers a mix of paved road, dirt and gravel, and starts at an elevation of 2.89 km (1.78-miles). Interestingly, this will be the last time the famous race, now in its 89th year, will be run with gravel left on the mountain course. Locals have already started paving the course to attract tourists and by next year the entire course is expected to be covered in tarmac.

1. Leadership
For a team to work well together there needs to be a person in the leadership position. Someone who will motivate, inspire, and make sure everyone is moving in the right direction.

2. Clarity
There should be a clear understanding of the purpose of the group. What are the team's goals? What is the team's purpose? What are we striving to accomplish? The clearer this is the easier for people to stay on track.

3. Responsibility
Each member needs to have a clear understanding of what they are responsible for doing. Everyone should know what their job is, when it will be expected, and what the parameters are to work with.

4. Feedback
This is very important as people begin to share their ideas in the group setting. It should be supportive and whenever possible positive. This will help to create a comfortable environment where the team will take chances and be more creative. Learn how to give and receive negative feedback and criticism in a professional and respectful way. It is amazing what people can accomplish when they believe in themselves and are confident in the group.

5. Diversity

Release Your Stress and Tension With Relaxation Technique

There are many ways to release stress and tension in our life. Chronic stress can have a devastating effect on the mind and body. Some problems it can cause include aggression, fatigue, poor health, and depression.

Life supplies us with a never ending stream of potential stressful situations. Whether you're at work meeting deadlines, on the road fighting traffic, or at home raising a family, stress has a way of finding and affecting everyone.

The following relaxation technique can help you to unwind, relaxing your mind and body. This can lead to more restful sleep, calm nerves, and feeling centered.

It's easy to do, doesn't require any special equipment, and can be done in a few minutes. 5 Easy Steps:

1. Prep your surroundings
No distractions. Shut off your cell phone, tv, dim the lights, etc.... Remove any outside factors that may increase your stress and be distracting.

2. Position
Lay down on your back, preferably on a carpet, thick towel, or yoga mat. Not a soft bed or very hard floor. Laydown with a flat pillow under your head and a bigger pillow under your knees. The pillows are for comfort and support, so your body can completely relax.

3. Breath
Take long, slow, deep breaths in and out. Try breathing in all the way down to your belly, hold for a couple of seconds and release.

4. Feel
Feel the firmness of the ground beneath you. Let it push up against your body and support it. At the same time allow your muscles to melt into the ground. Do this while deep breathing. Remember to breath into your belly, hold for a second or two and release.

5. Action
Physically relax your body. Take it slow. Start at the top of your head and go down inch by inch. Stop when you reach your toes. Gently open your hands all the way to stretch you fingers, then relax. Do the same with your feet and toes.

This is the most important part, so take your time. As you get more familiar with this relaxation technique you can always go faster.

Here are a few tips:
Try to visualize your body as an ice sculpture and watch/feel it melt. Any areas that won't melt are places that need some more attention.

Take a scan of your body for any place that still has tension. You'll often find some places relax very easy and some do not.

Some places to look for hidden tension.
Behind the eyes, the jaw, hands/fingers, feet/toes.

If you find an area of hidden tension, try one of the following methods:

• Gently flex the muscle for a second or two then relax it.
• Visualize a pair of hands massaging it for you.
• Visualize it melting, like a piece of butter

6. Relax
Allow yourself to lay there in your current state of relaxation. If you feel tension again in an area, go back to it and use one of the above techniques to release it. If it won't release all the way, don't stress about it. Let it be. At this point it's ok to let your mind wander, focus on your breath, or just feel the sensations in your body.

All done
That's it! This technique can be done in 3-5 minutes. If you have more time try spending 20-30 minutes, you will be amazed at how peaceful your mind and body will feel.

Malaysia shocked favourites Lebanon 2-1 to qualify for the third round of the 2012 London Olympics Asian qualifiers on Thursday.

After playing the first leg goalless in Beirut last week, the Malaysians took an early advantage at the Bukit Jalil Stadium when Mohd Irfan’s half volley stormed into the right corner of Mohamad Dakramanji’s net.

Wan Zack doubled their lead four minutes from time. The hosts were reduced to 10-man in the 51st minute when Gary Steven picked up his second yellow card of the night.

Defender Chadi Atie pulled one back for Lebanon but the West Asians failed to find an equaliser in front of a spirited Malaysian defence until the final whistle was blown.

The 12 winners from the second round will advance to the third round whose draw is scheduled for July 7 at AFC House.

The 12 teams will be divided into three groups of four teams each in the third round and play on a home-and-away format from September 21, 2011, to March 14, 2012, to determine the winners who will represent the continent at the Olympics.

Three second-placed teams from the third round will clash in a playoff at a centralised venue from March 25 to 29, 2012, and the winners of this group will meet the representatives of CAF for a berth in the Olympics.

BEAST
 

Beast has established themselves as one of the top acts in the K-pop world since their debut in 2009. The popular boy band from South Korea under CUBE Entertainment consists of 6 members: Yoon Du Jun, Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yang Yo Seob, Lee Gi Kwang, Son Dong Woon.

Originally known as B2ST (Boys to Search for Top), the group’s name was changed to BEAST (Boys of East Standing Tall), a couple of days before they debuted. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, whereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle are celebrated with a nice holiday. I thought we could mark this day sixteenth of june, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, think, and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well, certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now Prime Minister. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.

We have seen the censorship taken by the Malaysian government, blocking sites like The Pirate Bay, and WikiLeaks. Malaysia is one of the world's strictest governments, even blocking out movies, and television shows. These acts of censorship are inexcusable. You are taking away a basic human right. The internet is here for freedom, without fear of government interference. Do not think that no one else notices. Your structured government has done the talking, and we hear loud and clear. Let this be an announcement to all your people. This is a sign, a warning, and an opportunity to listen to ideas above your own. In a way you are being stubborn. But how will this help anyone or your country. We fear that if you make further decisions to take away human freedom. We are obligated to act fast and have no mercy. For rules were meant to be broken. And corruption was meant to be washed away and forgiven. Now we will wash your corruption away so be prepared. Take this as a favor.

We shall bring down the entire countries national infrastructure. We shall make this a day to be remembered.

Backup Blog Template

Template for a blog can be viewed as the backbone of a blog as a template to store all information related to the appearance of your blog, blog functions as well as many tricks to be done in a blog template (edit HTML).

Either you want to put background, change the color, even put the 'read more' or anything, most are in the template.
Therefore, it is necessary to be a backup first blogger blog template before making any alterations or before changing the new template.
The purpose of the template is to backup the backup if any changes to the code are not to be applied and not suits well for your blog.

Guide to backup template for blogger is as follows.


1) Login as usual. Then click the design button at the dashboard

2) From the design, clicks edit HTML and a little below you'll see you “download full template” 

3) Check out the display, click the SAVE button.. Done.:)

Tip: You can rename the template that you downloaded to chronicle your download. Like 20 June 2011.xml. This is to facilitate you identified the chronicle you create backups to your blog template. :)
